Bastion Solitaire

Bastion is an open game (all 52 cards are displayed face up at the beginning of the game). There are ten tableaus that contain five cards each. The objective is to move all cards to the four foundations by building them up by the same suit.

Odds of winning: Very High

Win about 4 in 5 games (80%).

Skill Level: Mostly Skill

Winning is mostly determined by skill. A small amount of luck is involved.

How to Play Bastion

Build foundations up by the same suit. Fill empty foundations with Aces. Build tableaus up or down by the same suit. Fill empty tableaus with any card.

Game Objective

The goal of Bastion is to move all fifty-two cards to the foundation piles. You achieve this by building sequences of cards up by the same suit that start with an Ace and end with a King. You win when the four foundations each contain a complete sequence of thirteen cards.

Foundation Rules

  • There are four foundations.
  • The foundations are initially empty.
  • The foundations build up by the same suit.
  • For example the 5♠ may move onto the 4♠ and the 5♦ may move onto the 4♦. Starting with the 5♦ the following sequence may build on top 6♦ 7♦ 8♦ 9♦.
  • The top card is movable.
  • An Ace may move to an empty foundation.

Tableau Rules

  • There are ten tableaus.
  • Initially containing five cards face up in each tableau.
  • The tableaus build up or down by the same suit.
  • For example the 6♠ may move onto the 5♠ or the 7♠. Starting with the 6♥ the following sequence may build on top 7♥ 8♥ 7♥ 6♥.
  • The top card is movable.
  • Any single card may move to an empty tableau.

Cell Rules

  • There are two cells.
  • Initially containing one card face up in each cell.
  • The top card is movable.
  • Any single card may move to an empty cell.
